World Kindness Day is celebrated on the 13th of November. If you have never heard of it, it's an international holiday that was started in 1998, set in place by the World Kindness Movement. You may ask yourself how you should celebrate this day and what you're supposed to do. If you do not know what to do to celebrate this day of love, let us give you some ideas on how to spread kindness on a budget.
Not having much free time does not have to stop you from participating in this holiday. Compliments are free. With the growing use of technology, we have the world at our fingertips. Go onto your social media and send love to people on their profiles. Comment some photos of friends letting them know how amazing they are. Congratulate someone for their recent accomplishments. One small act of kindness can really make someone’s day. A little goes a long way when it comes to giving out compliments.
Another free way to brighten a person’s day is with a smile. By simply flashing your pearly whites in someone’s direction, you can really spread joy. There are many times that we are just having a bad day, and a quick smile can remind us of the good in the world that we should be thankful for.
We are all guilty of keeping old items that we don’t use in the back of our closets. This can be unopened skincare, clothes, shoes, and accessories. If you don’t NEED it, and someone else can use it, donate it! You can go to your local shelter or Goodwill to give away these items. In the cold months, it is great to donate coats, scarves, and gloves. Donation doesn’t cost a dime, and can truly help many people in need to stay warm and clean.
When you go out to eat or go shopping, there is usually someone helping you at the establishment. You may be assisted by a waiter, retail worker, or salesperson. If you feel that these people have helped make your experience or day better, tell their superiors. By doing this, you can help someone get that promotion or raise they’ve been waiting for. You can make a positive change in someone’s life with just a few kind words.
If you have ever gone to pay for an item and been told by the cashier that it has been paid for, you have experienced pay it forward. When you go up to the register to pay, give an extra few bucks for the person behind you. This will make their food free, or severely discounted due to your kind gesture. Many people who have been paid for, choose to continue it for the next person as well. Who knew that kindness is so contagious?
There are many struggling parents that cannot give their children the gift of Christmas. Although it is sad for the kids, Christmas is just not in the budget for everyone. There are families that can barely get by, let alone purchase presents for their kids. You can help sponsor a family this holiday by purchasing some gifts for the children. If this is not within your budget at the moment, but still want to make a difference, you may want to look into installment loans. A small installment loan can help you make a deserving family’s holiday extra special this Christmas.
